Biography Langston Hughes

Drumuri lungi de-a lungul intregului continent si scoala primara la intamplare. Liceul l-a urmat la Cleveland si a inceput studii la Universitatea din Columbia, abandonate din motive materiale. A practicat meseriile cele mai diverse si a colindat lumea lucrand prin diferite porturi. In 1924 il gasim la Paris, apoi la Genova pana reuseste sa-si cumpere biletul de intoarcere in patria sa.
Este descoperit de Vachel Lindsay care il ajuta sa publice primul sau volum.
Langston Hughes este considerat un Sandburg al negrilor fiind un cantaret popular, un poet al Harlemului exprimand in versuri cantabile si orale sufletul poporului sau.
Prin specificul situatiei, negrii nord-americani impletesc in lupta lor tendintele demnitatii nationale cu acelea de dreptate sociala, si poezia lui Hughes are intotdeauna aceasta dubla rezonanta. Printre exegetii sai el trece drept poet angajat, si lirica lui indreptateste din plin calificativul.
